Invasive Insects in your backyard

June 27, 2018 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Colleen Teerling, Entomologist with the Maine Forest Service’s Insect and Disease Lab

Join us to hear about the Browntail Moth, Hemlock Woody Adelgid, and Winter Moths. These are currently our biggest invasive insects threatening the area, and Colleen will tell us about the insects, the damage they cause, and what you can do to deal with them. She will also speak about the most recent finding of the first case in Maine of the Emerald Ash Borer. Despite extreme efforts to keep the insect out of Maine, it is here and it now threatens the Ash tree which is deeply significant to Wabanaki Basket Makers in Maine.

Colleen has been an entomologist with the State for 10 years largely focusing on invasive insects.
